How to Begin German Shepherd Dog Training

German shepherds are very wonderful animals. They are actually one of the most intelligent breeds of dogs. We can usually see them in police training camps. They are being used for a more productive way as police companions. In other words, they are very smart dogs that can be trained well. But their skills will also depend on their trainer. If one is a good trainer, then it will reflect on the dog's behavior.

Here are the steps on how to begin German shepherd dog training:

1. Once you decide to become an owner of a German shepherd, you need to make sure that you can commit to the responsibilities of being so. If you are successful, you can even train your dog to protect you any harm.

2. You better research first about their behaviors. After that, you will find out how active they are. Even when they are still very young, they can knock you out due to excitement. They can jump on you, and you might get hurt. For this, you need to know how to calm your dog. Try not to play rough with them or they can hurt you. Excite your dog only if you are ready.

3. Let them socialize with other people. This needs to be done when they are still small. Let them explore other people and their behaviors. That way, they can control their aggressiveness over something.

4. You both can join some training class. This will help you both have knowledge in dog training. You dog can learn skills, and you can also learn how to begin German shepherd dog training.

5. Grooming them is important. German shepherd dogs shed a lot of hair. Make sure you are prepared for a lot of hair around the house. But you can prevent this by brushing them regularly. That'll keep the hairs for sticking to the areas in the house.

6. Train your dog every day. This will keep him motivated and active. Be consistent with your commands and be patient in teaching him these over and over.

7. Give your dog his treats if you need to. You actually need lots of it so you can really train your dog successfully.

8. The clicker is perfect for German shepherds. It will serve as the reward for them. Just by pressing the clicker, the unique sound it produces will get the dog's attention. It is a good way for the dog to always obey your commands even without the treats.

9. Praise your dog whenever it obeys you. That will make him know that you like how your dog obeys your commands. Be sweet and nice with your dog when it behaves well. But make sure you know when to be firm as well. Remember that you are the boss. Make your dog treat you so.
