How to Crate Train Puppies the Right Way

A part of puppy training that is often overlooked is crate training for dogs, which is sad as a doggy that has been crate trained properly is a content dog that can feel secure with their crate.

The way dogs treat their crate is that it is their own special place. much like a lair they would have in the wild.

Bruce my jack Russell terrier really found comfort in his crate, at the first sign of being scared by something he was in it before you could blink. For some reason, people think it might be cruel to keep your dog in a crate but, in fact, it is anything but.

Dogs love the security of a confined environment but you have to use common sense and not lock your dog in a crate for hours on end or expect him to enjoy staying in there when he really needs to go outside and do his "business".

Crate training can and should be a part of owning a dog. Whether you have a puppy or a full grown dog, there are steps you can take to train them to use and love their crate, which will make everything so much easier.

Many say Why Crate Train?

As we said before, once your dog is trained to use the crate it will give them a place where they feel secure. Another bonus of crate training a dog, is that when the need arises where you have to transport them in your car, they are already used to the crate and you won't have any problems.

House training your dog can be helped by using the crate too.You will need to consider a crate also if you are a frequent traveler, whether you travel by car or plane. In fact, if you want to fly with your dog he will have to be in a crate and won't that be a lot easier if he already thinks of his crate as a safe haven? Traveling will be easier when your dog is used to a crate.
