Steps For German Shepherd Puppy Training

If you like to have a German shepherd as our pet, you need to know how to train them. They are actually known as working dogs. They are usually seen in police camps and training grounds. They undergo a lot of training but it is what they are born to do. These dogs will not be satisfied if they aren't being used for a certain task. If you want to have a German shepherd in your home, you need to start training it starting when it is still a puppy.

Here are the steps for German shepherd puppy training which will help you train your dog:

1. The first step for German shepherd puppy training is to show the dog that you are the boss. You need to be the leader. These types of dogs are born willed and very strong. You as the trainer also need to be strong to handle it. Be in charge when training. Make sure your do learn what your role and his role are.

2. Get the dog's attention at all times. Make sure that he is focused on the thing that you are trying to teach your dog. Do the training in a place where there are fewer distractions. Preferably in a closed area.

3. Be patient and consistent in your training. The will be more eager than you are because he is always interested in learning. That is why you always need to allot time for the training. Try to teach the dog some simple skills at first like how to sit, heel, standup, catch and so on. After teaching him these, you can then move on to more complicated tasks.

4. As early as the dog's six weeks old, you can start the training. Just make sure that it will be just like a game for the dog and you are playing with him along the training. If you stress the dog too much, it will only get bored.

5. Give him treats for each time he listens and obeys you. That will keep him obeying you because he likes being praised.

6. The dog will always try to please you. It is in their nature to gain the praise of humans. You wouldn't have any problem with the dog when you are trying to teach him because it knows how to please you at all times.

7. Be patient. Do not hit the dog when he does not follow your orders. Just decline from giving him treats when it happens. This is good step for German shepherd puppy training. Maybe your dog needs to rest for a while that is why you cannot get his attention. You can just start again afterwards and you can give him a treat after he obeys.

These steps for German shepherd puppy training are very important for your dog to know his manners. German shepherds are very talented and intelligent. You need to take advantage of this and harness it to make them more useful.
